Almost everyone has heard about cruise missiles, heat guided missiles and laser guided missiles which can change their course even after being fired. But when we talk about bullets, only laser guided bullets exist, but they also follow a straight trajectory and don’t change their course after being fired. Pentagon has handed over $22 million to DARPA for the development of bullets that can change their trajectory and follow the target even after being fired, just like a cruise missile, making snipers even more lethal and inescapable.

The development of these smart actively controlled bullets will help counter the environmental factors like air density, cross winds, and increase accuracy and range for both moving and stationary targets. It will also help the shooter to fire to a target even if the target is not in his sight.

DARPA has not disclosed what technology will be used, but it will definitely comprise of a transmitter and a receiver to control it. It will follow and target individual persons by their unique body heat signatures, as everyone of us has his own heat signature, just like a heat guided missile follows a jet plane.
