How to Download Flash Animation using Firefox

by Shahid on May 4, 2009

Every now and then it so happens that one stumbles upon a funny or amazing flash movie or animation. The urge to share with friends and download it to the desktop is hampered by the non-existent option to download the SWF file.

There are software available for this purposes as well. Flash Catcher and Flash Grabber are two easy and free software but most others are shareware. But there’s the easy way around to download embedded flash animation using le’ old Firefox.

Just go to Tools –> Page Info –> Media. Choose the swf file to download (it is the one with type “embed”) and save it wherever you want. Just as simple as that.

This is highly effective because the softwares available run int eh background and are mostly linked to IE only. They don’t allow restricted flash animation to be downloaded as well. Who wants to use IE anyway?

There are no Firefox plugins available for this purpose, because this is extremely easy to do.
