My best AV SOLUTION is this. I do all my browsing and downloading (like now) in a Linux VM running ClamAV and Bitdefender. Both are free on Linux. If the files are clean, I move them over to the XP Pro Host, which is running Symantec Endpoint Protection. I really think the best defense is to work inside an environment that can't be infected easily and use a good scanner before introducing windows to that amazing file you downloaded. (-;

Realtime protection in Linux isn't really a worry, but once you put that file in the windows environment, it is.
I have noticed that ClamAV and bitdefender draw different distinctions between malware and "just a nuisance".
Symantic seems to ignore some adware if its prolific, removing would break your cool program and its not a real threat.

Bitdefender and ClamAV, on the other hand just don'tcare. They will both give you the option to remove most anything. Hope you know what you are doing!

At any rate, the "bad" things, like really bad get detected and removed by all three. Experience has taught me though, use a windows system long enough on the web and a smart virus will break any AV then break your system.

Ok, my antivirus is not even on the honorable mention list, which makes me assume it was not even tested...which makes me wonder why it wasn't tested..Please give Sophos a look the next time you run one of these comparisons...I would love to see how it stacks up!
