Sotheby’s, one of the oldest and most famous auction houses has teamed up with RM Auctions to auction off this rare 1967 Ferrari 330 P4. The chassis # 0858 was third at the 1967 24 Hours of LeMans and earlier won the chequered flag at the 1000km of Monza that year. With modified spyder bodywork, it went on to win the 1967 Manufacturers’ Championship with Jackie Stewart and Chris Amon in the driver seat. The car was then modified for the Can-Am series which required the car to be faster on shorter stints (more acceleration) and the LeMans reliability engine had to be enlarged.
The ‘P’ in the name stands for Prototype. This car is from the days before LMPs (LeMans Prototypes) took over the 24 Heures du Mans. It is a legendary car as it won the 24 Hours of Daytona ahead of the famous Ford GT40.
According to wiki it is owned by American Walter Medlin right now. Looks like the financial crunch forced him to sell this piece of history.
